If you’re looking for a special and delicious coffee beverage with only three ingredients, look no further. Mixing the juicy sweetness of melon pieces with the aromatic bitterness of coffee, and then adding the earthiness and sweetness of molasses will give your taste buds a unique and yummy experience. This smoothie has the creaminess of a soy latte and is bursting with flavors and sweetness thanks to the melon and the molasses.
What’s more, it has personality, and since every drink with personality has a name, I call it Comomelo. What do you think? To me the acronym (coffee, molasses, melon) is quite fitting, making me dream of Caribbean islands in the sun.
I still haven’t decided yet if this beverage is to be called smoothie, coffee, or creamy virgin cocktail. Either way, it is for sure appetizing, luscious and a special way to get your caffeine energy boost.
I prefer Canary melons or Piel de Sapo (also known as Santa Claus melons or Christmas melons) for this recipe, but any other melon type, except watermelon, will do too. If you choose to use smaller melon types such as Cantaloupe or Honeydew, I recommend using the flesh of a whole melon and not just half a melon as specified in the recipe below.
Enjoy the drink chilled, either cold straight from the fridge or served with ice cubes.
